Cigar Star review Heritage Humidor

This year we did a classic robust look with this cigar humidor, made with outstanding hand picked Walnut Burl with Spanish cedar inside. Cigar Star when quality matters!

The Heritage cigar humidor honors the classic look with a twist, as we hand picked the Amazing Walnut burl wood, which makes all these humidors a one of a kind!
We went a little overboard on this humidor adding an upgraded humidifier, dome shaped lid to add to its elegant, Spanish cedar air flow rack on the bottom of the humidor, & our new signature casted keyhole brass lock.

The inside of the humidor is fully lined with kiln dried Spanish cedar. Has hygrometer and humidifier. It will store up to 60 cigars.

Aged Or Mouldy cigars?

This box of cigars has been sitting in a Cigar Star Humidor since 2010. My question to you is what do we do with this box of Montecristo Open Eagles?

1. Scream mould and toss them?

2. Tell some story about this being some sort of good thing that shows that the cigars are... aging perfectly?

3. Leave them alone and fire up when ready?

This is a severe case of plume. Bloom or Plume (same meaning) is a cigar term that describes crystallization due to the rising of tobacco oils from within the cigar to the surface. The air will then dry the excretion creating the crystallized or dusty appearance. Bloom / Plume can appear slightly different on various cigars because every manufacturer will use a different wrapper leaf, filler, curing process.
This is why we place our focus on quality on every humidor we make. Cigar Star humidor will age your cigars perfectly for years.

CAO italia

Took the dogs to the park while I had the pleasure of smoking this cigar.....It has BITE! Frist 1/3 was thick tasted like chewing tobacco.....2nd 1/3 of the cigar became much better, light notes of nut and leather. Much better after the half way mark, as when I came to the final 1/3 of the cigar it was creamy and with so many tastes, like coffee, creamy leather otes that were pleasent and very enjoyable!

Cohiba Siglo 1 paired with a Barking SQUIRREL?

Well us up here in Canada look forward to the warmer weather to get outside and do the things we enjoy.
The other day I thought it was a nice time to sit down, relax and enjoy a fine stogie.

I went to my Denine Cigar Star humidor and pulled out a 3 year old Cohiba Siglo 1 and a new comer of brew called the Barking Squirrel "ITS A CANADIAN BREWER". This beer has won International awards and I can tell you that it deserved it, not only that but pairing it with the Cohiba Siglo1 was Divine.

Get ready for a wonderful Spring and Summer my friends.

New End Table Cigar humidors

Over the years we have had requests for larger cigar humidors. Today We have built our first end table 600 Cigar total cigar humidor. Made using Bubinga wood on the outside with the highest quality Spanish cedar on the inside.  We just finished our first one and I must admit that the quality of this unit is simply amazing!  20 coats of lacquer, bevelled glass top to showcase your cigars, and a lower compartment also sporting a bevelled glass window.

We will be placing a Cigar Oasis XL unit with each of these humidors along with 4 crystal humidifiers to keep your cigars fresh as the day you placed them in.

We have yet to name this humidor, and are asking for your help to do so. Just give us your name selection and if you win we will give you a starter set cigar humidor if we choose the name you summit.

Season your cigar humidor in Spring?

Having trouble keeping up the humidity level in your cigar humidor? Cigars should be stored at room temperature (about 70F degrees) with a humidity level of 65 to 72 percent.

Sometimes, it is difficult to maintain a constant level of humidity inside your cigar humidor, especially when seasons change. Here in Ontario Canada the humidity level inside your house, as well as other conditions, will affect the performance and operation of your humidor's humidification system.

If you are using your standard sponge humidifier, we suggest that you change that out with the upgraded crystals also known as humidity beads. They are far superior for your humidor and at a cost of only $5 for a bag http://cigarstar.ca/cigar-accessories.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_genx.tpl&product_id=104&category_id=10

These crystals will help maintain your desired humidity level inside your cigar humidor. They will also take the guess work out of when you should re-charge your humidifier as when they dry up they become hard and you know it time. Check out the video below.

Winter and Your Cigar Humidor

Having trouble keeping up the humidity level in your humidor? Cigars should be stored at room temperature (about 70F degrees) with a humidity level of 68 to 72 percent. Sometimes, it is difficult to maintain a constant level of humidity inside the box, especially when seasons change. The humidity level inside your house, as well as other conditions, will affect the performance and operation of your humidor's humidification system.

Factors Affecting Humidity Levels In a  Cigar Humidor

The varied use of air conditioners, heaters, and open windows can drastically change the level of humidity inside a house in a short period of time, making it harder (or easier) to maintain the optimal level of humidity inside a humidor. In addition, other factors such as air circulation and exposure to direct sunlight can also lower humidity levels. Try not to place your humidor near vents, fans, or windows. In the winter, the sun is lower in the sky than in summer, and can actually shine further into your house than in the summer (when the sun is overhead). A humidor that I had placed on a coffee table during the summer, had to be moved in the winter because the sun began to shine right on it. .

Best way to mantain your humidity levels inside your humidor during the winter months is to use, TROPICAL HUMIDTY by Cigar Star it offers the perfect humidification solution for your humidor. This solution consists of 50% propylene glycol and 50% distilled water and should be applied to sponge-based humidifiers along with crystal humidifiers as well.

Propylene glycol is a colourless and harmless liquid which has two favourable qualities for your humidor:

  • It prevents the formation of mold and bacteria
  • It is self adjusting to a humidity level of 70%.

This solution actively prevents the formation of mold and bacteria, absorbs humidity at humidity levels over 70% and emits humidity at humidity levels below 70%. This way, the humidifier is self-adjusting and will automatically stabilize the humidity level of your humidor at an optimum level of approximately 70%.
